"I" Generation – The Road Less Travelled

In this series, we will refer to the Integrity Generation (I Generation). This is not a generation born within a particular time period but rather a generation of people who have an unapologetic drive toward the purpose God has placed on their life. Using the parable of the wide and narrow gate (Matthew 7:13-14), those of the I Generation know the three phases of the journey:

1. The gate we walk through.

A wide gate is obvious and easy to see and walk through; the path of least resistance. A narrow gate is less obvious and may be easy to walk past. These gates represent the decisions and convictions we make about how we want to live our lives; decisions and convictions about the road on which we want to travel. The I Generation chooses to walk through the narrow gate.

2. The path we walk on.

We are told in the parable that the wide gate introduces us to the broad road. This image suggests a well-travelled road where we can move forward with ease. This is our default road to travel. We are also told in the parable that the narrow gate introduces us to a difficult road; a road less travelled and a trying one. The I Generation walk the Kingdom-cultural road less travelled. This less travelled road is neither counter-cultural for the sake of rebellion nor compromises to culture for inclusivity. It is a transcendent road that exists beyond the polarising culture of our day.

3. The destination we arrive at is our final destination.

If God has put us on this planet for a purpose, we either fulfil this purpose or we don’t. The path we choose ultimately determines the destination we arrive at. Although the parable speaks of our eternal destination as destruction or life, we can draw parallels to living a fulfilled and purposeful life or an empty and purposeless existence. The passage speaks of existing in a counterfeit reality devoid of and separated from God’s purpose for us. This is the destination of destruction. The parable also speaks of true life, where we live unashamedly out of our true identity in Christ. This is the destination of life that deeply satisfies our souls.

In this series, we will look at the Kingdom-cultural characteristics of the Integrity Generation, which will equip us to enter through the narrow gate and begin living life on the narrow path and with the utmost integrity.

TERMS & CONDITIONS
  1. Gifts to approved Global Development Group Projects in partnership with Metamorphic over $2 are tax deductible.
  2. No non-development activities are undertaken using tax deductible gifts.
  3. Our projects are typically designed in such a way that the activities can be implemented incrementally, regardless if a fundraising target is met or exceeded. However, if excess funds are still received, they may be applied to other approved project activities. [example: if the project was to raise funds for 3 wells, but only raises enough for 2 wells, then only 2 wells will be completed.]
  4. Reasonable effort will be taken to use the donated funds according to the donor’s preference. However, the project manager will make decisions in regard to implementation that are in the best interests of the project outcomes based on the stage of the project. (example: if a different water solution will help more people that option will be chosen at the time)
  5. Please Note: All of the reports that the donor/donors will receive will reflect the above and accurately account for the results.
