Vilca was a part of the metamorphic program in 2020 and continues within the mentoring program provided by the Cambodian team. Since 2020 Vilca has already planted two churches and is beginning to have an impact amongst all of the people in his region. The villages that Vilca has planted in did not have a Christian witness in them previously and most people had never even heard the name of Jesus before Vilca arrived.

Now people are seeing the love of God in practical ways and are recognising that the eternal and temporal answers are all found in Him.

When Vilca completed the initial church planting boot camp he began to see the opportunities for him to develop his community. His starting point has been in the area of education. As a young man himself, Vilca recognised the opportunity to educate and empower the next generation so that they would have a choice about their future and to break what has been generational poverty in his region.

Vilca has begun this development plan in cooperation with the village leaders and this has given him significant influence and favour amongst the people.

The focus groups are primary age children as well as the youth of the community. Vilca has begun teaching them both the traditional language of Khmer and also basic English and his goal is to ensure that every young person in his two communities will have a great future.

This fantastic focus on developing the community has not only enabled Vilca to share Gods love with his students but also with their parents. In what has been a traditionally Buddhist region, the gospel is making in-roads and people are coming to Christ regularly as they see the transformation of their villages taking place.
